About Mustang & Mustard

A husband and wife. One kitchen table.

Mustang & Mustard is a husband-and-wife team investing their family's own capital in companies they believe in and use.

Our story

We invest as if we had to own it for life.

Mustang & Mustard exists because we wanted to invest our family's capital the way we'd want someone to invest in us: directly, personally, and with an owner's mindset built for the long arc.

When we write a check, it's our family's money on the line — and our time, judgment, and relationships on the other side of it. We favor companies and products we understand and, wherever possible, use ourselves.

Because the capital is ours, we aren't structured to rotate out of a company on someone else's schedule. We commit early, lean in when we see it working, and stay longer than most investors can.

How we work

Two decision-makers. No investment committee.

Every investment decision is made directly by the two of us. There is no investment committee, deployment mandate or institutional timeline. Founders communicate directly with the people investing the capital.

  • Direct access to both decision-makers, from the first conversation forward
  • Patient capital by design, because it is our own
  • No mandate or quarter-end pressure to deploy
  • Relationships intended to last well beyond a financing round
What we believe

Four things we hold to.

People first

We invest in people first, businesses second. Talent compounds in ways spreadsheets never quite capture, so we back the people we'd want to work for and build the business with them.

Patience, then decisive action

We hold with patience and act decisively when the moment calls for it. Good timing is earned by not confusing motion with progress — we move fast when speed serves the company, and wait when it doesn't.

Real problems, not trends

We back ideas that solve real problems, not trends dressed up as categories. Durability outlasts narrative, and the technology has to be load-bearing rather than decorative.

Committed to our communities

We invest where we live, work, and build. Long-term capital from people with long-term stakes in the places our companies operate.

Our philosophy
"We invest as if we had to own it for life."

That standard drives every decision we make, even when we don't hold forever. It means underwriting for durability instead of narrative, backing people before categories, and accepting that the best outcomes take longer than a fund cycle allows.

Where we invest.

Four areas we know well and live in. Each has its own logic, but they share a common thread: we back people building things we'd want to use ourselves.

Building something we'd want to use?

We invest directly, decide personally and stay for the long arc.
